Arthur Edward Burgett〔(NPG details )〕 was a Canadian Anglican bishop in the first half of the 20th century.〔(Diocese of Edmonton Profile )〕 Born in 1869, he was educated at Radley and Trinity Hall, Cambridge,〔“Who was Who” 1897-1990 London, A & C Black, 1991 ISBN 0-7136-3457-X〕 and ordained after a period of study at Ripon College Cuddesdon in 1898.〔''Ordinations. London'' The Times Tuesday, 8 Mar 1898; pg. 4; Issue 35458; col C〕 After eight years in the Duke of Wellington’s West Riding Regiment he served a curacy in Tottenham. Moving to Canada he was a missionary within the Anglican Diocese of Quebec and Chaplain to the Bishop〔“The Clergy List” London, Kellys,1913〕 1914. He was Rector of St Paul’s, Quebec, and then Archdeacon of Assiniboia from 1918 to 1924〔(Rootsweb )〕 and of Edmonton North until his elevation to the Episcopate as the second Bishop of Edmonton.
